Wind Turbine Technician Schools in Denver

The program understands the need to strike the perfect balance between classroom instructions and significant hands-on training. Graduates leave with an Associate of Occupational Studies degree after completing 17 courses over six terms.

In total, participants must be prepared to spend 15 months in training. Among the topics of focus include foundational safety knowledge, industrial controls, turbine systems, automation, and electronics, along with maintenance and troubleshooting.

Future wind turbine technicians may apply for the Wind Energy Technology program offered by the Renewable Energy Faculty. Here, they will become familiar with all of the critical topics, including repair and maintenance, energy projects, manufacturing and fabrication, safety PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) integration, and team leadership, among others.

One of the highlights of the program is that students need to learn what they will need in this particular field. Still, they will also acquire an array of skills in electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic areas that are applicable in several industries.

Candidates may graduate with either an associate degree or a certificate while also qualifying for an array of certifications, including the OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety and Health and CPR certifications.

The program includes various courses focusing on three different renewable energy areas — wind energy technology, solar energy technology, and electrical technology. The wind energy technology courses introduce students to terminologies and concepts in the field with a focus on how to harness turbines to convert wind into electrical energy.

One of the best parts about the program is that even though graduates would have become skilled wind turbine technicians, they may also choose to take on roles dealing with solar energy and electrical technology.

Participants will graduate with an associate of applied science degree in Renewable Energy Technologies.

The program teaches fundamental skills in the field, while also leaving room for entrepreneurial and market-oriented analysis. Those who successfully complete their training will be able to analyze renewable energy operations and performance, explain how these systems integrate with the electric grid, and assess technical and financial feasibility.
