Participants graduate with foundational construction knowledge and industry certifications, such as OSHA-10, while also benefiting from real project work in the community. CTE’s strong local partnerships allow for excellent internship and employment opportunities after completion.

Students gain practical knowledge and leadership training through a mix of lectures, lab sessions, and field assignments. Graduates are well-prepared for roles in both residential and commercial sectors, and the associate degree also acts as a stepping stone to construction management or specialized trades.

Every year, participants build a house inside the school's massive workshop. Competent instructors teach important principles, from design and research to theory and safety, throughout the program.

Participants will also be able to develop leadership skills and become certified through the National Center for Construction Education and Research.

In just 9 weeks, candidates will be able to develop the right level of skills to secure employment. Some programs can also last for as long as two and a half years. Along with technical expertise in various carpentry principles, participants here are also encouraged to develop transferable skills, including critical thinking, design, communication, and leadership skills.

The program maintains a small class size so that participants can receive personalized attention from instructors.

Those who are accepted here will receive 2,000 hours of training on the job in approximately 1.5 years. They will also participate in 310 hours of related classroom instruction at the new Vermont Construction Academy in Winooski.

Upon graduation, those who complete their coursework will also be able to earn industry credentials for career opportunities. These include the OSHA 10-Hour Card for construction, NCCER credentials, and a nationally recognized credential from the U.S. Department of Labor.
