Participants will be able to define the roles and responsibilities of sterile processing technicians and assimilate into any hospital or other health care facility organizational structure. They will also develop professional skills and gain a solid understanding of the professional opportunities this career offers.

For practical experience, candidates can participate in clinical rotations. Upon completion, they will earn a certificate and be able to pursue certification.

Participants develop expertise in all key areas of the profession, such as introduction to medical terminology, the nervous system, low-temperature sterilization, tray assembly, inventory management, and ancillary department support.

By the time they complete their education, they will have developed expertise in several essential topics, including medical terminology, the nervous system, roles and responsibilities, decontamination and infection control, and more. For hands-on education, candidates can apply for a clinical experience rotation at a clinical site, although placement is not guaranteed.

It is also possible to qualify for job placement assistance through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.

This means that graduates will be ready to secure employment. Applicants are expected to submit an official application and provide proof of immunization, including influenza vaccination.
