To secure admission into this program, candidates must obtain minimum test scores in various testing areas, including writing, arithmetic, sentence skills, and reading comprehension.

The critical courses in the program include electrical prints and schematics, industrial safety procedures, introduction to photovoltaics systems, direct current fundamentals, and AC circuit analysis, among others.

One of the highlights of applying for this program is that the school also serves as a Certified Testing Agency for the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP). This means that students who enroll in the program can enjoy a straightforward route to becoming certified by NABCEP once they graduate.

A NABCEP certification, of course, will serve as a validation for their installation skills.

According to the program website, Savannah Technical College remains the first technical school in Georgia to offer a Solar Energy Installation program. Since its inception, the program has produced successful graduates and continues to do so.

The program requires 15 semester hours of credit to earn the certificate. Courses include industrial safety procedures, direct current fundamentals, photovoltaic systems, prints and schematics, and alternating current fundamentals.

Participants will receive extensive training under the tutelage of instructors with vast experience practicing what they teach.

Along with intensive classroom training, the school also boasts plants and laboratories where students can acquire hands-on training and practice what they have been taught. Participants learn about photovoltaic markets and applications through a curriculum prioritizing safety first.

Other focus topics include photovoltaic module fundamentals, electrical and mechanical design, troubleshooting and performance analysis, and system components.

The school also offers preparation for candidates seeking certification from the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners.
