Students may qualify for financial assistance with guidance from the Financial Aid and Scholarship Staff. They will also gain extensive preparation for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board credentialing exam.

As noted on the school website, the primary objective of this program is to equip students with the skills, qualifications, and knowledge needed to register with the state board of pharmacy and obtain national certification. The program is recognized and approved by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

Tuition for New Mexico residents is $70 per credit, and $356 per credit for non-resident.

Those who apply for this program must have a high school diploma or a GED or be in the process of earning one. They will gain access to important textbooks and other training resources designed to prepare them for the certification examination administered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.

Graduates develop enough skills to be able to work in several environments, including community pharmacies, specialty pharmacies, mail order, and hospitals.

As noted on the program website, those who successfully complete the program will also be eligible to sit for the exams required to become a certified pharmacy technician. They can take these examinations from several agencies, including the Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians and the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.

As part of the program, accepted applicants will also complete 45 hours of clinical experience. They will have the opportunity to experience first-hand what a real-life pharmacy tech environment looks like.

The program includes the certification exam fee in its total cost. In-state students can expect an estimated cost of $1,100, while out-of-state students will pay an estimated $2,405.

Those who successfully complete the coursework will graduate with a certificate. They will be able to work across multiple environments and develop core administrative and transferable skills, including customer service, communication, and organization.

For certification, students receive preparation for the PTCB and Red Cross CPR credentials.
