Students enrolled there will be able to learn comfortably without sacrificing program quality. They will also be able to complete their training within 6 months and sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board credentialing exam.

Samford University's pharmacy technician program is recognized by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy and the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. Students of the program are not eligible for financial aid.

It offers candidates the option of online learning, campus-based training, or a hybrid approach. Participants learn the fundamentals of pharmacy technology, with a focus on key topics including reading and interpreting prescriptions, identifying and classifying drugs, performing pharmacy calculations, and the history of the profession.

All of these are taught through classroom hours and hands-on laboratory sessions. Towards the end of their education, students will also be able to participate in a clinical externship at a local pharmacy.

Students can expect to complete 60 hours of rigorous instruction, including preparation for the credentialing exam for the pharmacy technician certification boards. To secure admission to this program, applicants must have a high school diploma or a GED.

One of the major benefits of this program, beyond its interactive learning, is that students are paid to learn. Graduates must pass the pharmacy technician certification exam.

Classes run from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It is also possible for certain classes to take place in the evening.

Students receive classroom lectures and spend some time in the laboratory developing hands-on skills. The curriculum covers prescription dispensing, inventory control, common conversions, aseptic techniques, billing and reimbursement, and more.

A high school diploma or GED is required for admission to this program. Applicants must also pass a background check and drug screening and provide a state-issued ID.
