Aircraft Mechanic Schools in New York City

Students learn everything they need to pass their Airframe (A) and Powerplant (P) exams and become successful aircraft mechanics in the future.

The AMT program at Western Suffolk lasts 1910 hours and takes place at Wilson Tech Republic Airport Campus in Farmingdale, New York. It offers a small class size so that the instructor-to-student ratio is always optimal and a state-of-the-art facility so students can learn comfortably.

It is organized and structured to be completed full-time through 40 hours a week of training for three semesters. In 12 months, students will get about 1,005 hours of training to equip them for what they expect in the FAA's Airframe and Powerplant exam.

Those who wish to further their studies may enroll in the Associate of applied science degree in the Mechanical Technology: Aircraft Maintenance program.

One of the program's highlights is that it combines theoretical study and practical hands-on experience and places a strong emphasis on modern techniques combined with computer applications.

For this reason, those who graduate from the bachelor's program usually take on advanced roles in a supervisory capacity.

Students learn about advanced aircraft systems for maintenance, avionics circuit, maintenance resource management, and rotorcraft design technology.

As expected, the FAA approves the program, and those who complete it can sit for the Airframe and Powerplant exam. The school also takes it further by offering additional aircraft maintenance certification through the inspector Authorization (IA) rating.
