Aircraft Mechanic Schools in Indianapolis

Graduates will complete 93 credit hours of training lasting up to 21 months. They will graduate with an associate of applied science degree in aviation maintenance technology and have all the necessary skills to pass necessary exams and secure employment.

The focus topics include maintenance and inspection regulations, inspection methods, aircraft electricity, mathematics for aviation maintenance, physics for aviation maintenance, and aircraft corrosion control.

The program's graduates have secured employment as aircraft mechanics, operators, and repair technicians, among other things.

The program has a broad scope, covering topics ranging from airframe and powerplant to avionics, aircraft operations, and management. Offered in collaboration with Vincennes University, graduates who have earned an associate degree from the latter institution may transfer and study for another two years at Purdue University.

According to the program website, most students complete the required course hours in 2 years. Students who choose the Airframe rating will have to study 1,150 course hours, while the same goes for the powerplant specialists.

However, candidates who choose the combined airframe and powerplant option must complete 1,900 training hours, 400 of which involve general training and 750 hours each for airframe and powerplant training.

One of the program's unique aspects is that students can touch actual aircraft components as quickly as possible. The program is also structured as an apprenticeship, which prioritizes hands-on training.

Not only are students able to meet the requirements set by the FAA, but they are also well-prepared for the exam with a high graduate placement rate. Topics include flight control systems, aircraft systems, and engine systems.
